Foster Grandparent Program
Program Description
Foster Grandparents volunteer throughout Pueblo County serving children with  literacy skills building primarily in elementary schools, Pre-school and Head Start classrooms. They serve as role models, tutors. Foster Grandparents provide additional educational support services to help struggling students succeed. The positive influence of a Foster Grandparent can have a lasting impact on a child’s educational experience.

Applications are available at SRDA in the Foster Grandparent Program Office.

Services Offered

The services offered for the Foster Grandparent Program are:
  • Intergenerational volunteer opportunities with school aged children
  • Orientation and monthly in service training
  • Hourly Stipend pay and other benefits

Program Funding
The Foster Grandparent Program is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service and the City and County of Pueblo.

Foster Grandparent Qualifications
  • 55 years of age or older
  • Able to volunteer 20 hours a week
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Must meet income guidelines

Foster Grandparent Benefits
